Sneakers to Fill: Help Needed & Wanted

Credit to the anonymous Fotki photo poster [Steve Schery?] , using a Nikon E5200.

Someday soon the rain will stop and we will be back to a steady diet of RSTC tennis. But it does take more than fair weather to ensure smooth running operations: we need committed volunteers. The cold facts are that the same few people have been doing the lion's share of the work over and over again. There are a plenty of positions available for April and beyond: staging the tournament, hosting the social, buying provisions. The main requirement is enthusiasm, the second requirement is energy. Please don't assume someone else will do it when you can. Be honest with yourself: do the pat excuses and justifications really hold up? I'm betting in most cases the answer is no. So please, please, please give a thought to what you can do, when you can do it and how you can help [we'll set aside where and why]. Please contact one the usual suspects Annette, Irene, Barb, Dennis or Michael to discuss further. You will be glad you did.

Looking for my home

Please help. We were left at the Vernon - Reinhardt's home after a rousing good Irish party last Saturday, March 18. Please help us find our rightful owners. We miss you. Please contact Annette and Paul to claim any one of us.

Is fear rith maith ná drochsheasamh!

That's Irish for: A good run is better than a bad stand, which kind of seems appropriate.

We are up to 19 players for Saturday, an unusual mix of 11 women and 8 men. A few more spots available...act now.
It looks like the weather will hold up after a bit o' the ol' spritz today and Friday.

Sláinte [cheers]

March Tournament Update

We will get a bit of rain between now and the weekend, but the trend is toward warmer and drier weather. Saturday should be partly cloudy with the temp pushing 60, which sounds like a lot of people we know.

There are seven men and five women signed up so far, with a goodly number of people on the fence. Please sign up and be counted at the eTennis site [www.tennisone.com] so we know for sure.

Irish Eyes Caught Smiling

Rick & Barb can’t make the social, but Rick thought he would spread a little Irish Cheer nontheless. Keep those cards and letters coming, folks!

After the Ball is over...

The big party is over, the celebrities have gone home and now it is time to roll up the sleeves and get down to the business of a new season. I refer, of course, to the aftermath of the fabulous RSTC Membership Mania gala, where visions of ducks far outnumbered penguins. It was great to see familiar faces and meet some new people. Spring is on the way.

This should be quite an exciting season. There are a number of innovations and many opportunities for members to get involved. The RSTC is a volunteer organization and is only as good as we all make it. So YES, that means YOU. Get involved this year and break the 90/10 ratio of involvement. Many sign up slots are available for helping in all phases of ongoing activity: procurement, tournaments, socials and other stuff. Annette Vernon has the scoop and can match you with a good fit. You can contact her at vernhardt@comcast.net or 650-349-1617.
