Redwood Shores Tennis Club
Fun, Food and Tennis! Currently in its 21st year, the RSTC sponsors monthly intra-club tournaments and frequent “open play” dates, when the courts are reserved for RSTC members on a walk-on basis. Each monthly tournament is followed by an evening social held at the home of a member, featuring gourmet fare and a review of the day's heroic exploits. The socials have become almost as big a draw as the tennis itself. Non-tennis-playing spouses are always welcome, especially at the socials.

The Tennis Channel
CHANNEL
Since this is the season of questionable tennis weather, I just thought it worth mentioning that there is a new TV channel devoted to tennis on Comcast cable [Channel 411] and the Dish satellite network [Channel 400]. Finally, competition against the golf channel; unleash your inner coach potato. Starting Monday December 18th, they are replaying the top ten matches of 2006.

Go West RSTC [Version]
Well, it just might be time to add MP3s and video links to the ye ol' RSTC blog. Kristian Nergaard, who is not yet a member of the Federal Witness Protection Program [FWuPP], has penned this ditty. Let the records show that this is the very first known RSTC song in captivity. I think I can say, without any fear of contradiction, that of all the many RSTC song lyrics set to popular music, this is certainly one of them. It does not translate particularly well to the page, so be sure to hum along and do the dance steps as you read it.
Together
We will go our way
Together
We will leave some day
Together
Your hand in my hand
Together
We will make our plan
Together
We will fly so high
Together
Tell all our friends goodbye
Together
We will start life new
Together
This is what we’ll do
Go West
Life is peaceful there
Go West
In the open air
Go West
Where the skies are blue
Go West
This is what we’re gonna do
<>
Together
We will love the beach
Together
We will laugh and teach
Together
Change our pace of life
Together
We will work and strive
I love you
I know you love me
I want you
How could I disagree?
So that’s why
I make no protest
When you say
You will do the rest
Go West
Life is peaceful there
Go West
In the open air
Go West
Baby, you and me
Go West
This is our destiny
Go West
Sun in winter time
Go West
We will do just fine
Go West
Where the skies are blue
Go West
This is what we’re gonna do
There, where the air is free,
We’ll be, what we want to be
Ahhhhh…..
Now if we make a stand
We’ll find – our promised land
Tennis
There are many ways
Tennis
In the sun or shade
Tennis
We have found our place
Tennis
We all play with grace
Tennis
Here in Redwood Shores
Tennis
We have so much more
Tennis
Baby, what’s the score?
Who cares?
Let’s just play some more
WHAT WE’RE GONNA DO IS...
Go West
Life is peaceful there
Go West
There, in open air
Go West
Where the skies are blue
Go West
This is what we’re gonna do
Life is peaceful there
Go West
In the open air
Go West
Baby you and me
Go West
Play with RSTC
Go West
Sun means tennis time
Go West
We will play just fine
Go West
Where the skies are blue
Go West
This is what we’re gonna do
Come on, come on, come on
(Crescendo…..)
GO WEST……….

RSTC Holiday Party at Vivace
A great time, as well as wonderful food and drink, was had by all who ventured to the RSTC Holiday Party at Vivace in Belmont. Thanks to some of the usual suspects for putting it together: Annette, Irene, Jay, Barb and Rick. Special thanks for Barb's floral arrangements and Jay's sommelier-ing.
Irene displays the elusive "Tower o' Chocolate."
R-S-T-C: The Song
A song writer named "anonymous," who may or may not be in the Federal Witness Protection Program [FWuPP], has spent some time songwriting of late. Here's the sure-to-be hit R.S.T.C., sung to the music of the Village People's "YMCA"
R.S.T.C. by anonymous
Young man, there’s a place you can go.
I said, young man, there’s a place you can show
Your fancy footwork, strokes, and steel nerves
Forehand, Backhand, Slice, Drop, and Serve
President Annette is a doll
She will never holler nor howl
Although you serve with your foot on the line
And you stole her ball yelling “mine!”
It’s fun to play with the R-S-T-C
It’s fun to play with the R-S-T-C
They have tournaments for us all to enjoy
You can play or cheer and make noise
It’s fun to play with the R-S-T-C
It’s fun to play with the R-S-T-C
They have tournaments, socials and open play
Come join us for a fun-filled day
Irene is a chef extraordinaire
Barb brings refreshments to share
Our line calls are really better than fair
But Dennis aces everyone
Young man, there’s, no need to feel down.
I said, young man, pick yourself off the ground.
I said, young man, ‘though you just lost the game
There is no need to be ashamed.
It’s fun to play with the R-S-T-C
It’s fun to play with the R-S-T-C
They have tournaments for us all to enjoy
You can play or cheer and make noise
It’s fun to play with the R-S-T-C
It’s fun to play with the R-S-T-C
They have tournaments, socials and open play
Come join us for a fun-filled day...
